Explorers Seminar: Where does the universe hide its missing matter?

Thursday, December 8, 2016 - 12:30pm to 1:30pm

University of Iowa Museum of Natural History

Dr. Philip Kaaret, UI Department of Physics & Astronomy

Where does the universe hide its missing matter?

Astronomers have a conundrum in that they can't find about half of the matter that they know the universe had when it was young.  We will discuss how the matter got lost and ways to find it, including a CubeSat now being built at Iowa.

Cupcakes will be available.  Attendees are encouraged to visit the companion exhibition "Hawkeyes in Space: UI Physics, Past and Present" at the Old Capitol Museum.
