Historian Mike Zahs and Magic Lantern History

Saturday, December 9, 2017 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Old Capitol Museum

In conjunction with our current exhibit, Faces of Iowa Through the Early Lens, the Old Capitol Museum is honored to host historian Mike Zahs for a special Magic Lantern program. Magic lanterns entertained people for over 300 years, learn why and see for yourself how fun they can be!

Zahs will discuss the history of image projection from shadows to moving images. Magic Lanterns will be shown and used. Mechanical and hand colored slides will be projected.

This program is free to attend and open to the public.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact the Old Capitol Museum in advance at (319) 335-0548
