How Did They Do That? Tools of the Trade

Saturday, August 19, 2017 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm

Lacey-Keosauqua State Park

How Did They Do That?! For thousands of years preindustrial populations hunted and farmed in Iowa. These people had to make everything they needed from string to houses. Join University of Iowa Office of the State Archaeologist's Cherie E. Haury-Artz, as she describes various prehistoric technologies. She will have materials to examine so participants can experiment with how they were used. The program will be given at the Beach House Lodge at Lacey-Keosauqua State Park.

Bring one or two of your favorite artifacts for identification or interpretation! Note, we do not and will not assign any monetary value to artifacts.

This is an official Des Moines River Water Trails event cosponsored by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Jefferson County Conservation. Pre-registration is not required. For more information, please call (641)-919-6822 or email
